Next week Feb 17-21st  we will be celebrating National FFA week!
FFA is the nation's largest student leadership organization with the goal of providing every student with opportunities for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. During National FFA week all across the United States FFA members will be participating in community service, fun activities, promoting agricultural literacy, and educating the public on what it means to be an FFA member. We are more than cows, sows, and plows and busting that stereotype of "FFA is for only for farmers" is one of my goals here at Seymour. We are definitely a safe space for our farm kids, but our organization includes a diverse group of students from every background, ethnicity, and ability level! FFA is for EVERYONE!

Dress Up Days:  This generation is lacking the school spirit that I remember enjoying at their age. Let's show them how it's done by participating! Mon - Hawaiian Day to honor our One Big Ohana! Did you know Hawaii has 19 FFA Chapters across all 5 islands? Tues - Merica Day (Red/White/Blue) FFA is a National Organization with FFA members in every state plus the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico! Wed - Camo Day - We will be "hunting" ducks around the school this day! Thurs - Country/Western Day - Did you know there are many famous country/western singers that were FFA members? Fri - Blue and Gold Day - The official FFA colors are National Blue and Corn Gold

Duck Hunt This annual tradition gets the whole school involved! On Wednesday morning 50 rubber ducks will be hidden throughout SMS. Students can turn a duck into me in room 501 to earn a prize (during passing period or lunch time).

Discovery Degree Recipients The following students filled out an application and will be earning their Discovery FFA Degree next Tuesday. Each level of FFA has degrees that can be earned. There are three at the school level and then there are degrees at the state and national level! Earning their Discovery Degree is their first step in their FFA Degree journey!1.Leah Wente2. Morning Trivia We also will have daily trivia! The questions will be read on the announcements by an SMS FFA officer and then an email with a Google Form will be sent out to students at 8:45! The first correct answer will earn a prize. The winner will be announced on the next day's announcements.

FFA Member Activities Our FFA members will have some member exclusive fun built in next week! Monday - members can play minute-to-win-it games during their lunch for prizes Tuesday - We will recognize our top 20 active FFA members with an ice cream treat during lunch Thursday - FFA members will be getting a popcorn treat during school! SMS and SHS FFA members will be competing in district volleyball and basketball tournaments Thursday night!!Friday - FFA members will get a pancake breakfast!

Community Service Our SMS FFA officers would like to recognize the outstanding service of our first responders so we are trying to work out providing lunch to police stations and fire departments one day next week!
